Savage 7K Run/1 Mile Historic Walk

Sunday, October 26, 8 am

Essential event info:

Packet Pickup:  Saturday, October 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Feet First, Wilde Lake Village Center, 5305 Village Center Dr. #110, Columbia, MD 21044.  Also, before the event on Sunday, October 26 from 7:00am to 7:45am at Carroll Baldwin Hall.

Parking at the event on Sunday: The United Methodist Church of Savage (kitty corner from the Hall at 9050 Baltimore Street) allows participants to use their parking lot; however, their Sunday service begins at 9:30, so you would need to leave by about 9:15. There is also plenty of parking along Foundry Street and other side streets just past the church. Just a few steps further away are the parking lots at Savage Mill at 8600 Foundry Street. Please avoid parking on Williams Street or Baltimore Street to leave those streets clear for runners.

The Course: The course will run past Savage Mill, take a loop through the Mill's upper parking lot, continue through Savage Park and wooded trails, then wind through the neighborhood before returning to the Hall. The course begins with a hill, followed by rolling hills through the park, gentle grades through the neighborhood (mostly down as the course goes toward the river), and ends mostly flat.

If you signed up for the Historic Walk, meet your guide--Saki--by the large evergreen tree in the center of the park next to Baldwin Hall. (Please note that the walk is full and cannot accommodate any walk-ins.)

After the race:  We’ll have plenty of baked goods homemade by members of our community, along with fruit donated by Coastal Fresh. Music will be provided by Mike Endler’s Music for All Occasions.

The top 2 finishers overall in the female and male categories will receive gift cards generously donated from FeetFirst Running store and a cozy fleece blanket embroidered with the Savage 7K logo. The top 2 finishers in the female and male categories for each age group will receive a blanket.

Wear your 7K t-shirt to Dive Bar and Grille at Savage Mill after the event (or just let them know you participated) to get a free 1/2 price appetizer! The offer is good all day on October 26, limit one per table. They open their doors at 11 a.m.

Built of stone from the Little Patuxent River, Baldwin Hall has served as the community center of Savage, Maryland for over a century. Funds from each year’s event help restore and maintain this historic gem.

Please come for an autumn run or walk through our lovely community, and enjoy music and homemade baked goods afterward!

Registration opens June 7th and is limited to 200, so sign up early!
