2019 Annual Appeal

Dear Friends of Carroll Baldwin Hall,

The Board of Carroll Baldwin Memorial Institute, Inc. (CBMI) extends its wishes to you for a peaceful holiday season with loved ones.

Thanks to strong community support and a Maryland Sustainable Communities grant, we were able to accomplish several critical renovations at Baldwin Hall this year: improving drainage around the building to mitigate water infiltration, replacing the badly-deteriorated east and west end entrances, and installing a new HVAC system in the Library. (Take a peek at our renovations photo album.) The remaining funding will allow us to replace the worn 97-year-old wood floors with new oak flooring in February 2020.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our blessings, and this year we and the Hall had a reason to be particularly grateful. Two days before Thanksgiving, Savage-based ROI Construction donated supplies and labor to make some long-deferred roof, gutter and portico repairs.

More remains to be done to protect the Hall and ensure it meets today’s needs. On the wish list: a new ADA-compliant ramp into the basement; upgrades to the doors, locks, and windows to secure the building and improve energy efficiency; and replacement of the cracked north staircase.

Please consider a tax-deductible donation to CBMI, a 501c3, as part of your year-end giving. The Hall’s sole means of regular support comes from rental and lease of its space, and via contributions from friends in the community. Your generosity ensures the Hall’s legacy in Savage continues for future generations. Donations may be made online or mailed to us at PO Box 631, Savage, MD 20763.

Thank you for your consideration. We pledge to continue to serve the community by keeping the Hall available as a center for community activities.

Sincerely,

Dale Fixsen
President
